About Intentional Muslim
I grew up in the West with one goal: build a good life. A house. A career that goes somewhere. A family that has what they need and more. That ambition never left me.
But the West is expensive in ways people do not say out loud. Two incomes have become the baseline. A mortgage is the only path to homeownership most people know. The pension invests in whatever earns most. The standard financial playbook assumes you will borrow, pay interest, and build wealth the way everyone else does.
When I reverted to Islam, that playbook stopped working. Not because my ambition changed. Not because of that. But because I could not build the life I wanted on a foundation I did not believe in. The debt I carried was riba-based. The habits I had built were not Islamic. I had to stop, look honestly at where I was, and clean it up from scratch.
I trained in business law. The firms that paid well served clients I could not stand behind. So I chose personal injury, helping people who were wronged felt closer to my deen. It was not the easiest path financially, but it was mine.
The harder question was what came next. How do you level up your career without compromising? How do you build real wealth without a conventional mortgage? How do you provide for a family, invest for the future, and stay fully halal, in a society that was not designed with you in mind?
There was no clear guide. So I started building one, for myself first, and now for anyone walking the same path.
That is Intentional Muslim. Not a finished answer. A structured path, built in real life, shared as I go.
A roadmap, not just content.
Most Islamic finance content gives you principles without a sequence. You learn what riba is, but not how to get out of it. You understand zakat, but not how it fits into a broader wealth plan. Knowledge without structure leads to inaction.
The six-phase roadmap gives you the sequence. Each phase builds on the last. Foundations first, then debt elimination, then halal income, then wealth building, then legacy, then community. You always know where you are and what comes next.
Built around your obligations, not despite them.
Your deen is not an obstacle to financial success. Salah, family rights, zakat, Ramadan, the prohibition of riba. These are the structure your financial life is built around, not constraints to work around later.
Every article and roadmap phase is designed with that reality in mind. The goal is not to maximise wealth. It is to build financial strength that serves your deen, your family, and your community.
Where to start.
If you are new, start with the roadmap overview to understand the six phases and find where you are. If you have a specific question, use the article library. If you want structured guidance for your specific situation, reach out directly.
